RayVen is funded by the EXIST Research Transfer Programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
RayVen is a deep-tech startup from Ruhr University Bochum. It was founded in March 2025 by Dr. Celia Millon and Dr. Michael Müller.
RayVen develops high-performance laser systems in the short-wavelength infrared range. With pulse durations of femtoseconds and picoseconds, the lasers offer both a high repetition rate and high energy. This makes them ideal for processes requiring high precision and minimal thermal damage. Applications for these lasers include the semiconductor industry, industrial materials processing, and research.
RayVen is a spin-off from the Chair of Photonics and Ultrafast Laser Science at Ruhr University Bochum. In July 2025, the startup moved into the ZESS (Center for Energy and Space Technology). Here, the team not only utilizes office and laboratory space but also benefits from the proximity to the Worldfactory Startup Center and from collaborating with other scientists at the ZESS.
