GenAI4Maintenance

The project is funded by the European Union as part of the ‘NEXT.IN.NRW’ innovation competition through the EFRE/JTF programme NRW 21-27.

Machines and systems used in industry have a life cycle of several decades. During this period, they must be regularly inspected and maintained. However, these maintenance processes are often characterised by inefficiency. Service employees lose up to two hours a day gathering information, documenting or waiting – a major problem in times of skilled labour shortages.

Therefore, the goal of the GenAI4Maintenance project is to use generative AI to automate time-consuming maintenance processes that involve repetitive tasks. To this end, a domain-specific Maintenance GPT, which can systematically capture knowledge and make it accessible, is being developed for the project partners. A human-centred approach is being pursued, integrating technical solutions into everyday processes.
