The AREMOVS project is researching the automated removal of support structures of additively manufactured components using robot-assisted post-processing.
Additive manufacturing methods have been experiencing a considerable upswing in recent years. Reasons for this are the desire for shorter product life cycles, customised products and greater sustainability. However, time-consuming post-processing steps represent a significant hurdle. Support structure removal in particular proves to be a major challenge for efficient production.
The AREMOVS project therefore aims to develop a robot-based system for the automatic removal of support structures from additively manufactured metal components. The main focus hereby is on ensuring consistent data usage. This makes it possible to program robot systems autonomously and generate optimised paths for support structure removal. In addition, AI-supported quality assurance is to be integrated.
