Prof. Jack Cheng from Hong Kong visits ZESS
This week, we welcomed Prof. Jack Cheng from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to ZESS. Prof. Cheng is a leading expert in the field of digitalisation in construction. His research focuses on topics such as building information modelling (BIM), IoT and sustainable construction.
During his visit, Prof. Cheng toured our laboratories and demonstrators together with Markus König (Computing in Engineering), Aydin Sezgin (Digital Communication Systems) and Martin Ebel. Our drone projects and the intelligent building technology at ZESS provided numerous topics for discussion. As a research facility, we were particularly interested in the exchange on the topics of knowledge transfer, co-creation and spin-offs.
Prof. Cheng was accompanied on his visit to ZESS by Xuling YE, who recently successfully defended her doctoral thesis entitled ‘Blockchain-based Smart Contract Realisation in BIM Environment – Technical Adoption for Reliable and Collaborative Construction Management’. The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Markus König and Prof. Jack Cheng.
